How Vitamin D Works

Often called the 'sunshine vitamin', vitamin D plays an integral role in skin protection and rejuvenation. In its active form as calcitriol, vitamin D contributes to skin cell growth, repair, and metabolism. It enhances the skin's immune system and helps to destroy free radicals that can cause dry, red, peeling skin.

There is evidence suggesting an association between eczema and vitamin D deficiency. Several studies have found that individuals with eczema tend to have lower levels of vitamin D compared to those without the condition. Vitamin D deficiency may exacerbate eczema symptoms due to its role in modulating the immune system, maintaining skin barrier function, and regulating inflammation.

Nonetheless, ensuring adequate vitamin D levels through supplementation, sunlight exposure, or dietary sources may help manage eczema symptoms and support overall skin health. 

How Zinc Works:

Zinc possesses anti-inflammatory properties, which can help alleviate the inflammation associated with eczema and reduce symptoms such as redness, itching, and irritation. Additionally, zinc supports wound healing and skin regeneration by promoting cell growth and tissue repair.

Zinc deficiency can compromise the skin's barrier function and impair immune function, both of which are implicated in the development and exacerbation of eczema.

How Omega-3 Works:

Omega-3s may moisturize the skin and fight red, dry, or itchy skin caused by skin disorders like atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. Omega-3s appear to improve skin barrier function, sealing in moisture and keeping out irritants. These essential fatty acids have to come from our diet since the body cannot produce them, and they are known to reduce the formation of inflammatory cells.

How Digestive Enzymes Work

In addition to the enzymes secreted by the liver and pancreas, our intestinal walls are lined by cells which produce digestive enzymes that assist with the passing, digestion, and absorption of nutrients. When the intestinal cells are not performing at optimum levels, they produce less enzymes, which in many cases can manifest as leaky gut.

Leaky gut leads to food intolerances and poorly controlled inflammation. These chosen enzymes are selected for their potency, low allergen potential, and effectiveness.
