Immune Support Adults
How Vitamin D Works
Vitamin D is well-known to activate genes that regulate the immune system. It has been shown that children with lower levels of vitamin D are more at risk for viral illness, mental health issues, and allergic diseases like eczema, asthma, and seasonal allergies. Vitamin D increases the anti-inflammatory and antiviral responses of the cells that line the respiratory system during respiratory viral infections. I selected this formulation in fat and with Vitamin K for better absorption
How Zinc Works
Zinc is a nutrient which the body cannot store. Thus daily zinc intake is vital, especially when fighting infections. In several medical studies, oral zinc formulations have been shown to inhibit viruses from replicating and it was found to shorten the duration of symptoms of the common cold.
How Vitamin C Works
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant. What are antioxidants? During periods of illness our cells break down and create free radicals. Think pinballs. These free radicals ping around randomly and damage surrounding cells and tissues. Our bodies make antioxidants which are like PacMan’s that gobble up the free radicals. As we age, we make less antioxidants. During periods of illness, the body produces more and more free radicals which increase inflammation and makes us feel bad. Vitamin C helps counteract this process. This formulation is in a fat formulation to enhance absorption.
How Quercetin Works
Quercetin is known for its antioxidant activity in radical scavenging and anti-allergic properties characterized by stimulation of immune system, antiviral activity, inhibition of histamine release, decrease in pro-inflammatory cytokines, leukotrienes creation, and suppresses interleukin IL-4 production.
